A wonderful Victorian Army Medal group (3) awarded to Sergeant William Orr, 72nd Highlanders, CRIMEA (Sebastopol) & INDIAN MUTINY (Central India) TURKISH CRIMEA (Sardinia Issue)

Comes with the copies of his medal rolls. Unresearched

The 72nd Highlanders fought with the Highland Brigade at Sevastopol during the Crimean War (1854-56) and in the Central India campaign during the Indian Mutiny (1857-59). In 1863, it took part in the Umbeyla Expedition on the North West Frontier.

The Crimean War (1854-56) was fought by an alliance of Britain, France, Turkey and Sardinia against Russia. It was the only major European conflict the Army engaged in between 1816 and 1914. For the British, the campaign was symbolised by military and logistical incompetence alongside the bravery and endurance of its soldiers National Army Museum.
