George III (1760-1820) Crown 1819, ‘New Coinage’ Crown, 1819 LIX, laureate head right, rev. St George and Dragon within Garter (S.3787, Bull 2010).
This coin was designed by Benedetto Pistrucci (29 May 1783 – 16 September 1855) who was an Italian gem-engraver, medallist and a coin engraver, probably best known for his Saint George and the Dragon design for the sovereign and crown. Pistrucci was commissioned by the British government to create the large Waterloo Medal, a project which took him thirty years to complete
